Testimonials from Graduates: Real Stories, Real Impact.

The impact of the ITF-NECA Technical Skills Development Project extends beyond individual beneficiaries. Industries that previously struggled with a shortage of skilled labour now have access to a pool of competent professionals. This has boosted productivity, reduced dependency on foreign expertise, and enhanced Nigeria’s industrial growth.

Moreover, by fostering a culture of technical innovation and vocational excellence, the initiative is contributing to Nigeria’s vision of diversifying its economy beyond oil dependency. The ripple effect is evident in various sectors, with an increasing number of local businesses producing high-quality goods and services, thereby reducing import reliance and boosting export potential., as evident from the following testimonies:

We embarked on a transformative journey in pursuit of knowledge and skill enhancement in our respective fields at the ITF-ISTC, Ikeja, through the ITF-NECA fully sponsored Technical Skills Development Project, following the rigorous training period Six (6) of us were selected to undergo a six-month Industrial Attachment at Nigerian Aluminium Extrusion Company (Nigalex). During the period of our Industrial Attachment, we participated in installation of a new production line for the company. It brings me immense joy to inform our sponsors that not only have we successfully completed our training but Six (6) of us have also been retained by the esteemed company, each of us assuming pivotal roles in our areas of expertise. This achievement wouldn't have been possible without the unwavering support of the ITF-NECA TSDP We are truly grateful for what ITF-NECA has invested on us.

I graduated from Nnamdi Azikiwe University in 2013 with a B.Eng in Electrical Engineering. After NYSC, I remained unemployed for six years until I discovered the ITF-NECA TSDP at Truckmasters Academy in 2022, focusing on Automobile Maintenance. The programme built my confidence, sharpened my diagnostic and troubleshooting skills, and bridged the gap between my knowledge and available jobs. Immediately after training, I was employed by Coscharis Motors Plc, Lagos. Today, I work as a Technician at Halliburton Energy Services Nigeria Limited, a career path that brings me true satisfaction.

I am deeply grateful to ITF and NECA for the life-changing opportunity offered through Comfort Chefs Catering Academy, Lagos. The free Culinary Arts programme was more than training — it was a complete transformation. We received detailed, comprehensive instruction, daily free lunch, and a transportation stipend, making it truly cost-free. Beyond learning, we were mentored and equipped with real-world skills for the future. Today, with the certificate I earned, I work with the RIVIERA Group in Finland while studying. When passion meets opportunity, transformation follows. This was my experience in the TIIDELab fellowship, which redefined my career in AI and innovation. After a pre-fellowship, I was awarded a full scholarship for the main programme — an intensive mix of learning, application, and engagement. We covered machine learning, large language models, tokenization, and Python, while also developing soft skills such as emotional intelligence, problem-solving, and communication. The fellowship blended technical and personal growth, shaping me into a well-rounded professional. I am grateful to TIIDELab, ITF, and NECA for this life-changing opportunity.

A chance encounter on a rainy morning led me to the ITF-NECA TSDP, and it transformed my life. Having struggled with poultry farming, I joined the four-month programme on Poultry, Fishery, and Piggery, facilitated by ITF-NECA and DENUHENT Farms. With hands-on training and entrepreneurship modules, I revitalized my poultry business, expanded into pig farming, and began consultancy services. My dedication earned me the title of Most Outstanding Trainee of 2022, and later employment as Project Manager for the ITF Skill-Up Artisan Project. This journey changed my life and empowered me to uplift others.
